McGraw-Hill Cos. appointed Robert E. Evanson, 60, president of its newly formed higher education and consumer group. It marks the start of what the company says will be a new strategic focus on consumer marketing. The group will include the college book division, its pending acquisition of the Times Mirror Higher Education Group, and undisclosed future "consumer initiatives." Mr. Evanson reports to Peter Jovanovich, president of the Educational & Professional Publishing Group. He was exec VP-corporate development.
