[chicago] Kate Maddox joins Advertising Age June 23 as editor of the Interactive Media & Marketing section.

A free-lance journalist who is completing a book on Web commerce, Ms. Maddox has covered the emergence of new-media technologies for several years. Her past posts include senior editor-commerce for Interactive Age and senior editor-Internet technologies for Information Week. Prior to that, she covered cable TV for Ad Age sibling Electronic Media.

Ms. Maddox succeeds Debra Aho Williamson, who is moving to San Francisco to pursue career opportunities in Internet journalism and market research.

"Kate is among the most respected and experienced journalists in the new-media field, and is the perfect person to advance our leadership position in this area," said Ad Age Executive Editor Scott Donaton. "Debra, who joined the section at its inception and has served as editor for the past two years, played a crucial role in building IM&M, and we wish her all the best going forward."
