Magazine advertising in September continued to increase strongly, albeit at a slower clip than it has for the rest of the year. Pages of magazine advertising for September increased 7.1% over a year ago, according to newly released figures from Publishers Information Bureau. Year-to-date pages increased 12.9%. Magazines' fastest growing categories were technology, with pages up 51.5% in September and up 58.5% for the year, and media and advertising, with pages up 33.1% in September and 58.4% for the year. Automotive advertising, long magazines' leading category leader before it was eclipsed by technology earlier this year, continued to dog magazine publishers, with pages off 14.9% for September and off 10.3% for the year-to-date.ABC Radio to launch network specializing in urban market
