In an unusual move, Out
President Henry Scott decided to close the magazine's Out.com
site, citing lack of financial Web success by any publisher. The site, launched in June 1995, lost $50,000 to $100,000 annually despite ads from Apple Computer, Clairol, Nynex Corp. and others. The move may improve the positions of a newly invigorated Web site from The Advocate
and a reorganized PlanetOut.
