(July 30, 2001) -- The editorial office of World Publications' Garden Design today announced it will relocate from New York to its publisher's Florida headquarters.

The advertising and marketing staff will continue to operate from New York.

World, which purchased Garden Design along with sibling title Saveur from Meigher Publications in January 2000, cited the need for increased cost efficiency for the move.

Additionally, World is working to develop Garden Design as a brand for affluent, design-oriented readers. It had a rate base of 450,000, which has now been lowered to 300,000, and is planning for bonus circulation in the first half of 2002.

The move to Florida is effective immediately and lends itself to increased Web and television ventures similar to those of World's 12 other special-interest magazines, including WaterSki, Sport Driver and Friends. -- Abbey Klaassen
