Direct Marketing Corp. of America, a division of Marketing Corp. of America, Westport, Conn., is testing nationally SmartPak, a shared-cost, direct-mail program that uses outbound telephone surveys to determine household composition and consumer brand preferences. Sixteen major package-goods brands signed on for the trial of Kids & Pets SmartPak. Other potential themed programs include Active Lifestyles, New Mothers and Today's Grandparents.
