Major Indian publisher offers shopping on Web site

Published on .

BOMBAY -- Bennett, Coleman & Co., India's largest newspaper publisher, now extends its presence on the Internet through indiatimes.com, a one-stop-shop Web site for everything on India. Besides offering shopping opportunities on the site, Bennett's Times Interactive division will enable site visitors easy access to the Internet variants of such company-owned publications as The Times of India, The Economic Times, Femina and Filmfare. Lowe Group affiliate Enterprise Nexus Communications, Bombay, has been given the indiatimes.com account. Targeting potential advertisers for the site, the debut print ad shows a picture of that opulent monument to love, the Taj Mahal, with a small headline placed above the entrance arch: "It's like placing your banner here."
