Microsoft Corp. named MarchF1rst, Portland, Ore., to handle package design for its Xbox videogame console scheduled to hit the market this fall. Five design firms, which Microsoft officials declined to name, participated in the review. The software giant Jan. 22 will unleash its first TV ad effort focused on what the Microsoft brand means to large enterprises beyond product-oriented messages such as those for Windows 2000. A unified, hard-hitting message is anticipated, creative is handled by McCann-Erickson, San Francisco. Spending was not known.
