Career highlights: Began as an executive with Hughes Network Systems and later moved on to PanAmSat, the Connecticut-based satellite provider. While there, he helped write a business plan that would have positioned the company as a hemispheric data transmission company. The plan was rejected; he and brother Patricio launched Americatel in 1991.
