Margeotes/Fertitta & Partners, New York, a unit of Maxxcom, Toronto, acquired a majority stake in New York-based direct marketing agency Chinnici Direct to merge with its own direct marketing division, Margeotes/Fertitta & Pavlika. The combined shop, called Pavlika Chinnici Direct, claims $60 million in billings. Clients include Chase Manhattan Bank, Choicelinx and Sothebys. The new entity, with 60 employees, will be run by Michael Chinnici as CEO-chief operating officer and Holly Pavlika, who joined Margeotes five months ago to head its direct shop, as president and executive creative director. The deal is the third acquisition in the last two months by Margeotes' parent Maxxcom, which also acquired direct and relationship marketing agency TargetCom, Chicago, earlier this month and Mackenzie Marketing, Minneapolis, in July.
