Published on .

In a surprise move, Philip Marineau, 52, who's credited with adding new marketing muscle to Pepsi-Cola North America, Purchase, N.Y., is leaving after 20 months to become president-CEO of beleaguered Levi Strauss & Co., San Francisco. PepsiCo announced today that Gary Rodkin, 47, president-CEO of its strong-performing Tropicana unit, will succeed Mr. Marineau as president-CEO. PepsiCo President Steven Reinemund, 51, takes the additional, vacant post of chief operating officer. He reports to Chairman Roger Enrico, and now is positioned to succeed Mr. Enrico, 54, observers said. At Levi Strauss, Bob Haas, former CEO, will continue as chairman.
