New York Ad Offices Evacuate

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Marketers and agencies are reacting to today's World Trade Center attack.

DDB Worldwide management is currently conducting its quarterly board meeting in the agency's Midtown offices near 50th Street and Madison Avenue, according to a spokeswoman in the Chicago office.

Evacuations
She said staff were safe to her knowledge, and that the meeting continues since its location is north of where New York Mayor Rudoplh Guiliani told people to evacuate.

In the Chicago office, employees were told to check their voice mails this evening to learn whether the office would be open tomorrow.

Separately, all company-owned Burger King Corp. restaurants in New York City and Washington were closed and "non-essential" staff at the Miami headquarters were sent home.

GSD&M, Austin, did have some staff in Manhattan but they are all safe and have been accounted for, a spokesman said.

Cancellation
Citing "today's tragic events," the Gillette Co. canceled a planned media briefing on new Oral-B children's power toothbrush products set for Wednesday in New York.

Staff writer JAck Neff contributed to this report.
