MARKETING CHIEF NAMED PRESIDENT-COO OF DELTA AIR LINES

(May 2, 2001) -- Delta Air Lines, which narrowly averted a pilots' work stoppage last month, named 50-year-old Frederick Reid, currently its executive vice president and chief marketing officer, to the post of president and chief operating officer. Vicki Escarra, 48, executive vice president of customer service, will replace Mr. Reid.

Mr. Reid had been in his post for three years and previously served as president and chief operating officer of Lufthansa German Airlines. -- David Goetzl
