An agency spokesman said the move is being made because of the quantity of interactive business that flows through New York. Of the division's 17 employees based in Richmond, eight will be reassigned to other divisions of the agency, and nine will be laid off.
Martin Interactive's management -- Mitchell Caplan, president, Charles Pinkerton, director of interactive media and marketing, and Mike Lanzi, director of account management -- have been based in New York since January.
The team plans to hire nine employees for the New York location. Coca-Cola Cos.' Disani Water, United Parcel Service, Champion Mortgage and Roche Pharmaceuticals are among Martin Interactive's clients. -- Laura Hughes
