Barbie-Branded Apparel, Cosmetics and Animated Movie
Mattel has big plans for its signature Barbie line in 2001. At this week's International Toy Fair in New York,

the company announced that it will launch a line of Barbie consumer products and apparel aimed at tween girls, including clothing, cosmetics and a bath and beauty line. The big push is also behind Barbie-branded electronics and home furnishings. The collection will be launched with an ad campaign later this year; spending was undisclosed. Other Barbie lines include "Barbie in The Nutcracker"-themed products, with a straight-to-video, CGI-animated movie release scheduled for October 2001, along with McDonald's toy tie-in promotions.
