Mazda will stay at FCB

Mazda Motor of America, Irvine, Calif., has told Foote, Cone & Belding, Santa Ana, it will keep the estimated $175 million to $200 million account at the agency. Mazda has signed off on a campaign proposal developed in recent weeks by a new management team at the agency, which narrowly averted a review.

"We were hoping for the best but prepared for the worst," a Mazda spokesman said. "They came through in the clutch and delivered. They brought all of the resources of the agency to bear, and it clearly showed to us the great depth of Foote, Cone & Belding." Mazda had been prepared to delay its new campaign till early next year but now may be able to introduce FCB's campaign late this fall, the spokesman said.
