Oil company Caltex, Singapore, selected McCann-Erickson Worldside to handle an estimated $30 million in ad work for selected markets in Asia and South Africa. McCann emerged victorious from a four-way pitch that also included Publicis, Young & Rubicam and TBWA
Singapore, the incumbent for the regional portion of the business. Caltex used other agencies locally in the region, including McCann's in the Philippines. Caltex, one of the Big 5 global petroleum companies, is a 50-50 joint venture between U.S. petroleum companies Texaco and Chevron Corp.
