McCann opens agency in Western China

NEW YORK -- McCann-Erickson Guangming has opened an agency in Chengdu, China, it was announced by Marcio Moreira, regional director of McCann-Erickson Asia Pacific.

With this new office, McCann claims to be the first international agency to open an office in China outside Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province which, with a population of 110 million people, is the most densely populated province in China. Among McCann clients that are expanding their marketing efforts in Sichuan are Nestle, Cerebos and Johnson & Johnson. With the opening of this agency in western China, McCann-Erickson Guangming's network of agencies in that country is now completed with agencies in the north, south, east and west.

McCann-Erickson Guangming, which has billings of more than $90m, is McCann-Erickson Worldwide's joint venture agency with the Guangming newspaper group.
