McCann at top of class in '98 Effie Awards, with 14

McCann-Erickson Worldwide led the winners of the 1998 Effie Awards, with 14 awards recognizing advertising effectiveness. DDB Needham Worldwide received nine and J. Walter Thompson USA and Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, each received eight. The awards, sponsored by the New York chapter of the American Marketing Association, will be presented at a ceremony June 3.
