McD's cuts won't hurt media budget

McDonald's Corp.'s estimated $600 million media budget will not be affected by $100 million in corporate overhead cuts, the burger giant announced today. However, there will be some trimming of ad costs that could, for instance, mean one less TV spot per promotion, and some positions will be cut in corporate marketing as part of previously announced staff cuts of 525 employees, a spokesman said. The Oak Brook, Ill.-based company said it will take a $190 million charge against second-quarter earnings for its new "Made for You" food preparation system.
