McD's jingle makes comeback

Published on .

McDonald's Corp. on Dec. 26 resurrects its legendary Big Mac jingle in four 30-second spots starring Charles Barkley. The "two all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun" chant will be used to promote the 99-cent Big Mac through January 18, and again in the spring and fall. Leo Burnett USA, Chicago, created the campaign, though the former Needham, Harper & Steers Advertising--now McDonald's agency DDB Needham Worldwide, Chicago--produced the original ads in 1975. African-American agency Burrell Communications, Chicago, designed an accompanying spot, called "Scat Big Mac," starring Al Jureau.
