McDonald's forges on into Latvia and Lithuania

Published on .

TALLINN, ESTONIA -- McDonald's Baltic Ltd is pushing ahead with new store openings in Latvia and Lithuania. The US company has opened the doors on a second outlet in Gediminas Street in down-town Vilnius in Lithuania.

And McDonald's third restaurant in the region is a drive-thru in Latvia and forms part of a filling station complex operated by the Norwegian state oil company Statoil in Riga.

"We have invested $10m in our Baltic operations so far, and though the restaurant chain there as a whole is still operating at a loss, we continue to go on expanding," said McDonald's Baltic director Kevin Murphy.
