McDonald's, Teletubbies link in April

Published on .

McDonald's Corp., Oak Brook, Ill., and Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Co. announced they will join forces for a consumer promotion featuring the Teletubbies this spring. The tie-in, dubbed "Teletubbies Hugs,'' will run April 14 through April 27, offering toy versions of four characters from the popular Public Broadcasting Service show for pre-schoolers, including Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po. Leo Burnett USA, Chicago, will handle advertising for the promotion. Fast-food rival Burger King Corp., Miami, sold out of its Teletubbies premiums ahead of schedule during its own tie-in with Itsy Bitsy last May.
