PRAGUE--McDonald's has just opened its 25th restaurant in the Czech Republic inthe northern Bohemian town of Most.

While PepsiCo's KFC and Pizza Hut chains have a limited presence in the CzechRepublic, McDonald's is the only major hamburger fast food operator in thecountry.

Global competitors such as Grand Met's Burger King have not entered the Czechmarket, even though Burger King has awarded the franchise for the CzechRepublic to Fusion, the franchiser of Hungary's 13 Burger King restaurants.

Fusion director Jeffrey McLellan says he plans to enter the Czech marketeventually, but is waiting for resources to allow for an intensive launch.

"When we do go in, we want to open 15 restaurants in two years and have animmediate presence," he says.
