MCI Communications Corp. unveiled a new corporate logo designed by branding consultant Interbrand Schecter, a New York-based division of the Omnicom Group. Beginning Thursday all MCI brands and advertising will sport the new logo, featuring blue MCI initials with a bright orange starburst over the letter "I." Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG, New York is MCI's agency. MCI last changed its logo in 1982, following the consent decree that opened the long-distance market to competition. "Our new logo," said Chairman-CEO Bert Roberts, "positions MCI as it moves into a new world of opportunity, providing services well beyond long distance, including Internet access, direct broadcast satellite and local service."
