Mecklermedia to unveil 'Internet Shopper'

Internet-themed print and online publisher Mecklermedia, Westport, Conn., in a trend that reverses traditional publishers' relationship to the Web, rolls out Internet Shopper this December. The custom title, which could go quarterly according to Tristan Louis, iworld publisher, draws on a shopping section from the iworld Web site..

Mr. Louis said his year-old site is bolstering revenue streams in a four-step process, beginning with ad revenue, moving to licensing in fourth quarter, offering subscription-based or premium-priced products in first and second quarter of 1997, and spinning off content in other media next year. In fiscal 1996 the site will bring in about $400,000 in ad revenues and should net $2.2 million by 1998..

The site is seriously considering BPA's services for auditing and will begin working with Excite and Yahoo! in addition to InfoSeek..
