The Media Edge recruits first general manager from CIA

Published on .

LONDON -- The Media Edge, Young & Rubicam's recently launched global media management company, has recruited Johan Denekamp from CIA as its first general manager and chief financial officer.

Mr. Denekamp, 39, will join the newly created board of The Media Edge, reporting to President Paul Woolmington, and will be based in London.

Mr. Woolmington describes the appointment as a "vital next step," following the September 25 launch of The Media Edge and its positioning as an independent company within Y&R Inc.

Mr. Denekamp was previously European COO of CIA, now renamed Tempus Group plc, where he spent six years. He was involved in the group's acquisitions and in managing joint ventures with other agency networks. The decision to leave was driven mostly by the scope of the opportunity and the global nature of the position, he is quoted as saying in a Y&R statement.

He began his career with accountants Price Waterhouse, London.
