Media Metrix tracks online X-mas shopping

Online shoppers began to peter out during the last week of Christmas, according to a report from Web measurement company Media Metrix. The number of online shoppers from Dec. 11-17 only rose 4% from the previous week. The study also tracked cross-visitation--users who shop from site to site. Books/music/movie Web sites ranked as the highest category with more than 30% of users going to two of the three sites. Other cross-visitation categories ranked include toy sites and online department stores (19%), toy and books/music/movie sites (35%), and toy and apparel sites (8%).
