GEMS Television, the Miami-based Spanish-language network targeting women, signed a contract in late December with Telecommunications Inc. to broadcast GEMS on the multisystem operator nationwide. On Dec. 31, GEMS began broadcasting to more than 475,000 homes in 17 TCI markets, including Miami, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, Dallas, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and McAllen/Brownsville, Texas. The station plans to be on 18 TCI systems and in more than 900,000 additional households in three months, said president/CEO Gary McBrdie.
