Mediaplex buys AdWare from McCann

Mediaplex, a San Francisco-based ad technology company, has agreed to buy AdWare Systems, for $27.3 million in stock and cash, from the Interpublic Group of Cos. and its McCann-Erickson Worldwide unit. With AdWare under its wing, Mediaplex will add traditional ad services to its online offerings. For the next five years, McCann-Erickson will continue as an AdWare charter client. AdWare, offering products that assist tasks such as agency accounting and media buying, will operate as a subsidiary of Mediaplex based in Louisville, Ky.
