(June 14, 2001) -- MediaSmith has been awarded the $12 million media planning and buying account for Roxio, maker of top-selling CD burning software Easy CD Creator.

The San Francisco office of MediaSmith will handle all offline planning and buying to support the launch of the Roxio brand, as well as promote sales of its products, which include Toast, for storing music, photo, video and data and system utility software, and GoBack, for data backup, recovery from crashes and viruses.

Roxio, based in Milpitas Calif., is a recent spin-off from Adaptec Inc. Roxio's CD recording products plug-in with Microsoft Windows Media Player and RealNetwork's RealJukeBox. -- Richard Linnett
