MediaVest has not had a dedicated print-buying unit until now. MediaVest, which buys ads in other media for its clients, cobbled together resources to meet specific client needs when it came to print. To service its account for Kraft Foods, for example, a team of MediaVest employees executed print buys out of the Chicago offices of sibling Starcom. For other clients, print buys were handled within MediaVest media planning groups, the spokeswoman said.
Operational by June
The Kraft team will relocate to New York, a MediaVest spokeswoman said. The print unit, which will be housed in MediaVest's New York office space, is expected to be fully operational by June.
Robin Steinberg will head the new unit and will report to Bill Tucker, executive vice president of MediaVest. She starts May 3. Additional hires are planned, the spokeswoman said. Ms. Steinberg joins MediaVest from Aegis Group's Carat USA, where she oversaw print buying for Pfizer, managing rate negotiations for several hundred print publications.
Ms. Steinberg could not be reached for comment. Calls to Carat executives were not returned at press time.
