Megabrand a solid, proven media building block

The Top 100 Megabrands are media's cornerstone.

The group continued in 1999 to claim more than a quarter of all national media--$23.6 billion of $87.8 billion.

Top 100 members were dominant in newspapers, network and spot TV, magazines and cable, the five leading media by ad volume; their total spending grew 16.7% versus 7.5% for all other advertisers.

General Motors Corp. contributed eight megabrands; its General Motors MediaWorks serves the most megabrands (eight) among media services companies. Starcom USA has seven.

Y&R Advertising, FCB Worldwide, Leo Burnett USA and Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide could each claim bragging rights to holding the most megabrand clients. Each has nine.
