MIAMI--Mercedes-Benz, jointly with the Stuttgart-based headquarters of Daimler-Chrysler, has awarded the Mercedes-Benz account in South and Middle America to Bates South, Miami. Also pitching for the assignment was Foote, Cone & Belding. Publicis was invited, but did not take part. The plan is to run a product campaign for Mercedes-Benz cars in these markets. In addition, importers are free to use Bates - or any other agency - for additional advertising.
