Several merger and acquisition deals are brewing that would virtually realign the entire spot TV sales representation business, industry executives said. Although the deals are not believed to have been finalized, Petry, estimated to be the third-largest rep, is said to be acquiring No. 4 Blair. The resulting company would have about 29% of the market, surpassing Katz Communications, currently the industry leader with 26% of the market. But a second deal believed to be in development--an acquisition of MMT Sales by Cox Communications--could produce another rep behemoth.
