Metromedia merger off

Published on .

Metromedia International Group and Alliance Entertainment Corp. said they have called off their previously announced merger agreement. Both companies cited "changing conditions" for the decision. Metromedia Chairman John W. Kluge said, "We continue to be committed to building a global entertainment, media and communications company," and that its previously announced acquisition of the Samuel Goldwyn Co., with an 850-title film and TV library, "remains on course."

Alliance is the largest distributor of pre-recorded music and music-related products in the U.S.
