MeTV.com and Encoding.com sign 750 motion-picture deal

MeTV.com, an Internet video-on-demand start-up, and Encoding.com, which digitizes movies for the Internet, signed an agreement calling for the encoding of 750 full-length feature films, which will be made available to Internet users with broadband access as pay-per-view rentals from the MeTV.com Web site. MeTV.com will stream the movies at full-screen resolution to broadband Internet users at two speeds, 375k and, for the first time at 700k, which matches broadcast TV quality. A demonstration of the technology is posted on the MeTV.com site.
