Microsoft cuts a piece of the search engine pie

Microsoft Corp. got into the search engine market Oct. 20 with an agreement with Inktomi Corp., a search technology company. Inktomi will design search services for the Microsoft Network and MSN.com, Microsoft's Web site. The search service will be rolled out in early '98.
