Microsoft fields IE promos

Microsoft Corp. and Softbank Interactive Marketing are running a sweepstakes through July to spark interest among Internet Explorer users and entice Netscape users. Visitors to four sites repped by Softbank--WebChat Broadcasting System; LookSmart; TV Guide Entertainment Network; and Intellicast--can enter sweepstakes to win a vacation if they use IE; a link lets Netscape users download the browser so they can enter. The promo is one result of a request for proposals Microsoft sent Web sites to build demand for IE 3.0.
