MICROSOFT LAUNCHES SPANISH-LANGUAGE PORTAL

(June 21, 2001) -- T1msn, a joint venture between Microsoft Corp. and Telmex, has launched a Spanish-language portal for the U.S. Hispanic market and plans to acquire Spanish-language site company Yupi Internet.

The portal will be called Yupi/MSN. Under the terms of the acquisition, Yupi Internet will combine with T1msn's operations and will operate as T1msn in Mexico and as Yupi/MSN in other North and South American markets. The existing MSN Messenger Service and MSN Hotmail e-mail service will be supplemented by Spanish-language content from Yupi, incluing local news sites and a site focused on the interests of Spanish-speaking women. -- Adrienne Mand
