Microsoft Network hits one million

Published on .

Microsoft Corp.'s Microsoft Network, Redmond, Wash. announced it reached the one million subscriber mark Monday, less than a year after launch. The swell in subscriber numbers has the youngest online and Internet service nipping at rival Prodigy Services Co.'s heels. Industry sources report the White Plains, N.Y.-based service counts 1.4 million subscribers, and a company spokesman said that Prodigy would grow more "holistic" with the Web, migrating content, such as its "Chat Soup" area to reside on the World Wide Web within the coming months.
