Published on .

Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash., and Radio Shack, the retail operation of Tandy Corp., Fort Worth, Texas, announced a five-year agreement that will establish a Microsoft "store within a store'' in as many as 7,000 Radio Shack locations nationwide. Customers will be able to see demonstrations of and sign up for MSN dial-up or broadband Internet access. Also, Microsoft will make a $100 million equity investment in the new RadioShack.com. The site will be a major advertiser on the MSN network of Internet services, spending $30 million over five years, and will occupy one of the premier positions on the MSN eShop online shopping service site. Both companies will make substantial contributions to joint marketing of RadioShack.com, starting with a jointly funded consumer marketing launch next year.
