Microsoft U.K. hires ZD exec for online sales

Tom Bowman joins Microsoft as the U.K. advertising sales manager for its Internet service MSN, The Microsoft Network. Working within the MSN team, he will be responsible for generating revenue through sales of advertising and sponsorship across all MSN network properties including the MSN online service, the msn.com home page, the online travel product Expedia and MSN News.

Mr. Bowman joins Microsoft from ZD Net U.K., the online service of computer magazine publisher Ziff-Davis U.K., where he was commercial director. He has been involved with Ziff-Davis U.K.'s online projects from the start and last year spearheaded the advertising launch of the Internet navigation tool Yahoo! U.K. & Ireland, a joint venture between Ziff-Davis Europe and Yahoo! in the U.S.
