Midas International Corp. named Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago, as agency for its $25 million account, with new strategy and creative to break in early 1998.

Midas will continue to use creative by J. Walter Thompson USA through this year. JWT, which won the account in 1995, developed the tag "Midas Auto Systems Experts. What can we do for you today?" It was launched last year.

JWT resigned the business in June because of a conflict with its Ford Motor Co. account. Ford has opened Auto Care Centers that compete with Midas.

Midas only asked for strategic presentations from FCB and the other finalist, DDB Needham Worldwide. Unlike '95, creative work was not sought. Midas "didn't want to go through a lengthy process of a full creative review," a spokesman said.
