MindSpring plans "Mail" counter-promo

Published on .

MindSpring Enterprises, an Atlanta-based Internet service provider, is planning to rain on the opening of "You've Got Mail," a film featuring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan that features America Online. MindSpring will hand out software CD-ROMs to people as they leave an AMC Theater in Deer Valley, Ariz., where the film is playing. MindSpring also will have a flight simulator in the theater parking lot for entertainment.

MindSpring is going cross-country on a marketing blitz in a decorated 30-foot Airstream Land Yacht loaded with computers. MindSpring is trying to expose people to the Web while raising money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
