Marketing shakeup
Ms. Hong's former boss, Ian Beavis, senior vice president of marketing, product planning and public relations, resigned Nov. 24. Mitsubishi said it has started a search and is now interviewing candidates for a new vice president of marketing to handle marketing, advertising and promotions.

The automaker last month reported its North American sales through October plummeted nearly 36% to 142,157 units vs. a year ago. Mitsubishi's Japanese parent, Mitsubishi Motors Corp., said earlier this week it will delay announcing its latest revitalization plan until the end of January.

Ms. Hong was heading internally the agency search in Mitsubishi's review of its creative, collateral and media-planning advertising accounts, now with Interpublic Group of Cos.' Deutsch, Los Angeles.

Search consultant Select Resources International, Santa Monica, Calif., will conduct the review.

Kevin Mayer promoted
She is moving from Southern to Northern California, where she will join an undisclosed high-tech company. Kevin Mayer, 35, is being promoted from product marketing manager to succeed Ms. Hong and will assume her duties running the review. Mr. Mayer joined Mitsubishi in March from Hyundai Motor America, where he had been national advertising manager.
