Money and CompuServe are linking to offer the "Financial Services District," an area providing links to advertiser Web sites. Firms can place ads on a combination of flat rate, CPM-based and per-inquiry pricing. The cost is partially dependent on the number of clicks their ad gets.

Click-throughs are increasingly becoming a pricing methodology of choice for advertisers on the Web, following a model proposed by Procter & Gamble Co. Prices for the CompuServe service are $9,000 per month for premium positions; rotating positions cost $2,500 per month, plus $2 per click up to a total of $5,000 per month. Current advertisers include Fidelity Investments, Vanguard Group and Twentieth Century.
