Monsanto Co. is considering divesting NutraSweet, the $600 million artificial sweetener marketer, Crain's Chicago Business reports today. The move is part of a restructuring at Monsanto after a failed $34 billion merger with American Home Products Corp. last month. NutraSweet, handled by Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago, is only minimally supported. Possible buyers include ConAgra, Archer Daniels Midland Co. and Novartis.
