MTV celebrates Malaysian show

KUALA LUMPUR--Malaysian music TV program MTV Syok! will celebrate its 100th episode on March 21 with a live concert featuring some of the best entertainers in the Malaysian music industry. The special concert will be held at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands, Pahang.

Launched on Jan. 2, 1997, MTV Syok! features a mix of Malaysian and international artists. MTV Syok! is the Malaysian counterpart of MTV Southeast Asia and it is a co-production between Filem Karya Nusa sdn Bhd and MTV. This show was specially produced for Malaysia's government-owned station RTM.

Syok is actually a slang word from the northern region of Malaysia that actually carries the meaning of "exciting'' or "fascinating.''

The special 100th episode retrospective show is jointly sponsored by Genting City Of Excitement and Nestle Non-Stop Ice Cream. Fans can get free passes to the concert through special newspaper ads which can be reimbursed at selected outlets or by purchasing Nestle Non-Stop Ice Cream.
