MTV launches terrestrial channel in Philippines

Published on .

Manila -- MTV launched a 24-hour terrestrial channel on UHF channel 41 in the Philippines on Jan. 1 with a line-up of customized programming. The channel is currently available only in Metro Manila, as the capital city and surrounding area are known, but MTV Networks Asia hopes to expand coverage to other key cities in the Philippines. Also, the music cable and satellite channel continues to be available throughout the Philippines on cable. "MTV Philippines is a milestone in MTV Southeast Asia's history. As part of our strategy of customization and local relevance, we'll be offering not just more music, but more fashion, celebrities and compelling programming in tune with local tastes," says Peter Bullard, senior VP-managing director, MTV Southeast Asia, Singapore.
